Project Detail Information
Sterling Construction Group commissioned Lehman & Lehman to complete the conceptual and construction design phases for their new senior living facility located just west of downtown Detroit. Courtyard, landscape and irrigation design were all integral pieces of the overall plan.
Lehman & Lehman designed the courtyard to incorporate small reading or socializing nodes along a looping walking path. Two larger spaces were also incorporated into the courtyard design, one of which features a small shelter to offer shade or shelter during gatherings of residents or their visiting families. Site amenities, such as benches, tables and chairs, were selected to complement the overall design, to provide comfort to residents, and to withstand the changing and sometimes extreme weather conditions in Detroit.
Landscape plantings of perennials and shrubs were chosen to provide seasonal interest from spring into autumn, complementing each other in color, pattern and flowering time.
